Description: | Technical memorandum Preface: The Waterways Experiment Station was authorized, 1n a Job Estimate Cost Summary (Form 18), prepared by the Mississippi River Commission an 3 December 1946, to conduct an investigation of the foundation conditions at the site of the Wolf River floodwalls and to make recommendations for design of' the foundation. The Memphis District, CE, had previous made several series of borings in and laboratory tests of the foundation material. Pertinent parts of these data, supplemented by an additional series of bor1ngs and laboratory tests performed by the Soils Division of the Waterways Experiment Station, were used in arriving at the conclusions and recommendations presented herein. This report supersedes the ''Preliminary Report on foundation Investigation, Wolf River Floodwall, Section lA, Memphis, Tennessee," submitted in September l948. |
