Description: Technical memorandum
Preface: Enid Dam is a rolled earth-fill dam. The spillway and outlet structures were designed by the Harza Engineering Company, Chicago, Illinois; the embankment and related features were designed by the Mississippi River Commission. The dam was built under the supervision of the Vicksburg District. Construction was begun in February 1947 and completed in 1952. A description of the dam, geology and soil conditions, details of the piezometer and relief well installation, and initial data from engineering measurement devices during and after construction are reported in "Review of Soils Design and Field Observations, Enid Dam, Yocona River, Mississippi," Waterways Experiment Station Technical Memorandum 3-409, October 1955. This appendix contains a summary and analysis of piezometric and well flow data obtained from 1954 to 1958. The results are evaluated with respect to the effectiveness of the relief well system in controlling hydrostatic pressures in pervious foundation strata along the toe of the embankment. The significance of data from piezometers within the embankment and in the vicinity of the spillway and outlet structures is briefly noted. The data in this report were obtained by the Vicksburg District. The analysis was made by Messrs. J. D. Perrine and R. R. Webb under the general supervision of Messrs. H. J. Turnbull, w. G. Shockley, and W. C. Sherman, Jr., Soils Division, Waterways Experiment Station. This report was prepared by Mr. Perrine
