Background: During the period 4 through 6 November 1968, the writer and SP4 C. P. Flanagan visited Little Rock Air Force Base (AFB) to study the performance of selected portions of the subsurface drainage facilities in connection with O&MA Investigational Project Q6-1, Task 04 - Work Unit 003, Field Performance Studies, Drainage and Erosion Control Facilities. The investigation included a visual inspection of the facilities and discussions of their performance with Base personnel. A plan of the Base is inclosed (Incl 1). Background information on the Base is given in the following reports: (A.) ''Report on Test Excavation and Fills, Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Arkansas;" U.S. Army Engineer District, Little Rock, October 1953 (Revised January 1954). (B.) "Airfield Evaluation Report, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas," U.S. Army Engineer. District, Little Rock, July 1960. The Base was constructed under contract administered by the Little Rock District; however, files on the construction have since been transferred to the Fort Worth District.
