Miscellaneous Paper-
Abstract: The evaluation described in this report was initiated to determine the feasibility of using sand drains to stabilize the foundation of the St. Charles Parish Lakefront Levee. The study was terminated after preliminary evaluations indicated that sand drains were not economically justified for the site. This report contains the results of field and laboratory tests; estimated costs for a test section that was to have been used to evaluated different methods of sand drain placement and different sand drain sizes and spacings; and estimated costs of sand drains if used for the levee construction.
