PURPOSE: The Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) described herein provides information about the use of Sediment Trend Analysis(STA®)1 for estimating net sediment pathways in coastal and estuarine environments. The STA technique is based on analyses of sediment samples collected over a uniform grid in the region of interest, and it provides maps indicating sediment pathways, erosion and accretion areas, and areas that are in dynamic equilibrium.
