PURPOSE: The Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) herein provides information on erosion which occurs on the banks (or shoulders) of tidal inlets stabilized with jetties. The causes for initiation of this erosion area are discussed, and potential solutions for reducing/preventing the erosion are presented.
