Abstract: PURPOSE: This Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) provides empirical equations to estimate flow velocity and flow thickness resulting from irregular waves overtopping a trapezoidal-shaped earthen levee. The CHETN summarizes published European research with the goal of providing practicing engineers with design guidance in a concise and understandable form. Worked examples illustrate application of the empirical equations.
