INTRODUCTION: At the 25th meeting of the Committee on Channel Stabilization held in Little Rock, Arkansas, 2-4 November 1971, a representative of the U.S. Army Engineer District, Galveston, described the project for navigation and flood control on the Lower Colorado River, Texas, and requested advice of the Committee on certain aspects thereof. The specific questions posed by the District are listed and discussed in order as Questions "a," "b, ""c," and "d." To clearly identify the project to which this report applies, the authorized project description extracted from the report of the District representative is quoted in paragraphs 2 and 3 below, and plates 1, 2, 3 of that report are included herein. Although other data in that report will not be repeated here, practically all factual data referred to in the following paragraphs, except data obtained in connection with the model study, were contained in that report.
