The Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) was created in 2014 as a reorganization of the Topographic Engineering Center (TEC), a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers laboratory that had been based in Alexandria, Virginia. TEC had been a part of the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), and GRL remains under the command of ERDC. The GRL remains based in Alexandria, Virginia and does research on information generation and management, data representation and analysis, data signature and analysis and geospatial applications
