Abstract: The effect of recently constructed and proposed channel improvements on sedimentation in the Red River downstream from Lock and Dam No. 1 were investigated. A one-dimensional numerical model. (HEC-6) was used to evaluate the effect of contraction works on dredging requirements in the navigation channel. A two-dimensional numerical model (TABS-2) was used to evaluate proposals to reduce deposition in the downstream lock approach channel at Lock and Dam No. 1. Recommendations were made to reduce sediment problems in the study reach.
