Description: Technical Report
Abstract: A ship simulator investigation of Claremont Terminal Channel was performed to determine the effects on ship handling of the proposed widening and deepening of the existing channel from approximately 150 ft to 300 ft and 27 ft mlw to 34 ft mlw, respectively. A hydrodynamic model study of the same area was conducted in support of the ship simulator investigation to supply current fields for the existing channel and proposed channel modifications. This report will describe the ship simulator investigation, its conclusions, and recommendations. Appendix A will describe the hydrodynamic verification and numerical simulation of the existing Claremont Channel bathymetry and two proposed channel design plans. Appendix B describes the governing equations of the TABS-MD numerical modeling system.
