Abstract: Coos Bay, Oregon, is protected by two rubble-mound jetties. At present, 500 ft of the north jetty has deteriorated to the extent that structural integrity is threatened. Discussed herein are efforts by the us Army Engineer District, Portland, to restore the jetty, assisted in their efforts by the Coastal Engineering Research Center which has performed a numerical water wave refraction/diffraction/shoaling analysis over the outer bathymetry at Coos Bay to determine wave characteristics
