Abstract: The blue ice area just west of the Mt. Howe ridge in Antarctica was surveyed with the intent of establishing a runway for large, wheeled cargo aircraft. Site limitations and wind observations precluded selection of an airstrip location. Installation of an automatic weather station to monitor winds at the site will allow determination of site suitability.-
