Description: | Special Report Abstract: The CRREL 2-inch frazil ice sampler is a tubular device for obtaining undisturbed samples of frazil ice from beneath a floating ice cover. It fits through a 2 1/2-in.-diameter hole drilled in the ice. A liquid-tight seal at the bottom of the sampler prevents the loss of frazil ice and/or water from the tube while the unit is being raised. |
