Description: | Technical report Abstract: This report presents soil moisture and soil texture data on 59 soil samples from eastern Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait. Very little soil moisture data are available, and although the data reported here are probably overestimates, they are reported because of the apparent lack of such data. With respect to soil texture, the soils were grouped as sandy soils or gravelly soils, and then were further subdivided using a descriptive, classification based on particle size differences. A modified version of the U.S. Department of Agriculture classification was used. This classification was tested using cluster analysis. Petrographic descriptions of 11 samples are included as an appendix. Although limited, the data are reported because of an apparent interest: in such data with respect to military operations in desert areas. |
