Description: Miscellaneous Paper
Abstract: The HULL hydrodynamics code was used to simulate the Mineral Find II event. Computed pressure and impulse values were within the uncertainty interval of the experimental data. The numerical solution exhibits oscillations at the gage which are approximately the same frequency as the experimental data. The numerical solution also developed numerical instabilities and excessive dissipation which are due to the algorithm used in the HULL code. Except for the prediction of a longer arrival time, the computational results give a good qualitative simulation of the experiment. In order to determine the gagemount response, a similar problem without the gage mount is also solved.
