Description: Technical Report
Abstract: Background information and procedures for the analysis and structural design of ribbed mat foundations on expansive soils are the basis for this technical report. Within the text are the basic rules and requirements for the design according to soil behavior. Different design methods are compared and the design formulas and construction details are presented with an objective for simplicity, accuracy, rationality, and flexibility. The Tulsa District, Structural Section, conducted computer parametric studies on which a new design procedure was based and developed by the Southwestern Division, Structural Section.
