Description: | Technical Report Abstract: The development of an advanced plan for office automation, the proposed implementation of an on-site supercomputer, and imminent plans for a corporate data base will overburden the existing communications network at the Waterways Experiment Station (WES). These event have accelerated the requirements for WES to upgrade its current communications network to handle the needs of the next 15 years. Plans are being formulated to integrate the data requirements of the entire WES site by constructing a state-of-the-art high-speed digital network capable of handling any kind of traffic. The ultimate objective is to allow any user to transparently communicate with any other device on the network. |
