Description: | Miscellaneous Paper Abstract: Prototype tests were conducted on the sector gate at the Calcasieu Saltwater Barrier navigation structure in March 1970. The controlled variables were the rate of gate openings and the differential reverse bead. Prototype tests showed that the hydrodynamic and friction forces were much greater than anticipated in the design. The prototype data agreed reasonably well with the model data of a similar gate. |
