Abstract: AMEC Environment & Infrastructure (AMEC) conducted indoor air and sub-slab vapor sampling atthe Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, New Hampshire on March 6th – 7th and March 12th, 2015. AMEC has prepared this data report for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, New England District (USACE-NAE) under contract number W912WJ-11-D- 0005 Task Order 0004.
Since March 2010, the USACE-NAE has been investigating vapor intrusion (VI) at several buildings at the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL or Site) in Hanover, New Hampshire (Figures 1.1-1 and 1.1-2). Vapor intrusion (VI) samples detected trichloroethene (TCE) (also called trichloroethylene) and other contaminants in indoor air at several facility buildings. Mitigation of VI impacts is currently ongoing at the Site. Assessments and monitoring of indoor air quality have been completed at the facility to understand the extent of TCE impacts (AECOM, 2012 and AMEC 2012).
As a result of these findings, AMEC was tasked with assessing indoor air impacts within Site buildings as part of remedial investigation activities, (AMEC, 2012a). The purpose of the indoor air and sub-slab vapor sampling program is to determine existing conditions of indoor air quality within designated CRREL facility buildings, to assess the effectiveness of mitigation, and to assess the potential need for operational modifications to mitigation systems for protection of human health.
This data report documents the results of Event 11 indoor air and sub-slab vapor samplingcompleted at the CRREL.
